Tendencies and Habits

Hello,

I am a questioner – according to a quiz I took part in. I wonder what you are?

Recently I came across a printout from a few years ago in one of the many “useful information” folders I have, telling me my dominant tendency is QUESTIONER.

I had taken the quiz in the “Four Tendencies” framework derived by Gretchen Rubin (QUIZ.GRETCHENRUBIN.COM). Her book is “Better Than Before”.

The quiz is testing us to see how we respond to expectations – as follows:

Outer Expectations such as meeting work deadlines or observing traffic regulations.

Inner Expectations such as exercising more or keeping New Years Eve resolutions.

We are usually dominant in one of the Tendencies:

Upholder (doing what others expect of us – and what we expect of ourselves)

Obliger (doing what I have to do and not letting others down – but I might let myself down)

Rebel (doing what I want to do, in my own way)

Questioner (I do what I think is best according to my judgement. If it doesn’t make sense, I won’t do it)

It is good to reflect on our habits and how we react in our lives – so we can be the best we can be.

Being a questioner, I sometimes get exhausted from analysing too much and having relentless need for information and justification. However, that is how I am!

Gretchen says “when we understand ourselves and how our Tendency shapes our perspective on the world, we can adapt our circumstances to suit our own nature – and when we understand how other people’s Tendencies shape their perspective, we can engage with them more effectively”.

Be kind to yourself as well as others. Keep your heart open – and enjoy the quiz if you wish to discover more about yourself.

Have a happy March.

With love,

Merriene
