A warm welcome,
In Sherwood Forest, Nottingham, England a 1,200-year-old oak tree stands proudly and grandly. It is named Major Oak as it is the king/queen of the forest. It is linked to the legend of Robin Hood and has been witness to centuries of many generations of human interaction, changing weather, of floods, droughts, cold, heat, disease and many wars.
Sadly, this magnificent tree has “died”, although it will continue to stand as a monument for all it has endured and shared. Its circumference is 11 metres. It has been and still is a record keeper of wisdom and has a great life force.
The soil it was planted in retains the memory of times before its planting. It is a time capsule.
The tree is our moral compass of how to live. Its essence will remain and leave an imprint. Many generations of children would have climbed this tree, played in its hollow interior and have had lasting memories. The birds and animals sheltered there. There is a legacy. We need to learn to live like this tree has lived – share our gifts, be strong through adversity and know when we have completed our natural life span and then leave our special legacy.
Trees support humans – cleaning the air, providing shelter and shade, warmth through the use of the wood for fire and also as a building material for homes and furniture. They show strength, resilience and confidence. Saplings from this huge oak have been distributed and planted around the world. They hold the essence and wisdom of this mighty tree. The baton has been passed on to the new. There are timelines for all of us – the end of an era and the beginning of another!
I have conversed with a grand tree in the southwest of Western Australia and have written it up in my latest book ‘A Journey of Thoughts’, page 170 in the chapter ‘Seasons’. Here is the conversation between us:
“We are the energy of the tree you hugged, and we are connected to all trees … We are so happy you give of your time and love to be with us today. We have great need of your love and concern, and we wish for you to speak out for us – as you will in the future. Please understand our need is for our time to live as trees in your eco system and to bring harmony and balance to the planet. Mankind do not, on the whole, understand the necessity for balance and you, as a species, need to respect the part you play is one of connection with all things … “
All my books (written through automatic writing) have been penned at my lovely one hundred year (and more) American Oak dining table, brought to Western Australia from America by a family at the time of Whaling being a big business (unfortunately) in our southwest at the end of the 1890’s. This table has a special and beautiful energy and it is also where I have consulted with all my wonderful clients during many years. Many meals have of course been shared there by precious family and friends as well.
Find a tree to hug. It will soothe and strengthen you. It will appreciate your love for it. All trees are linked collectively and are ancient sentient beings. Treasure them.
Loving hugs,
Merriene
