A warm hello,
You may have heard the saying “the dark night of the soul”.
Many people have experienced it.
It is a very challenging time. It can be when there is a huge shift in circumstances in life and we are in a place of great uncertainty and vulnerability.
Robert Ohotto in his worthy book “Transforming Fate into Destiny” talks about the “the dark night of the ego”- a state of questioning the outer expression of who we think we are.
It is a very confronting experience. It is an opportunity for us to examine ourselves, our personality that we present to the world to help us live our lives the best we can.
We are much more than this personality/ego that we have created. Our soul self is the authentic player in this play of living and when our ego self is not aligned with our soul, we may have a time of crisis so we can feel and think deeply about our true purpose.
It is a time of “the dark night of the ego” where our protective “wall” comes tumbling down, revealing our fragility and reluctance to claim our authentic self.
It is a time of painful surrender, letting go, acceptance and great transformation. It is an opportunity to “do the work” and emerge to be a humble and yet more powerful and fulfilled human being. You are becoming who you truly are, remembering your authentic self who is here in human form to achieve greatness in whatever is your soul contract and life mission.
A lovely meditation exercise (that I have used with groups) is to visualise looking into a mirror where you see your soul self looking back at you. Greet this wise energy of yourself and invite it to merge with your ego self with much love so you can enhance your life to a wiser and more beautiful level. It is a magical experience.
With much love and many blessings,
Merriene
