Welcome,
For over forty years I have had the wise words of the poem DESIDERATA hanging on a chart in my bathroom.
My sons grew up with it ‘staring at them’ from the wall all that time and one of these wonderful sons asked for me to read it from the pulpit in the church at his wedding many years ago. It had shaped his thinking and actions (and still does).
Some of you may be familiar with DESIDERATA. There are many different reports of its origins such as: found in old Saint Paul’s Church, Baltimore dated 1692 and more recently stated to be by poet Max Ehrmann in 1927.
There is so much wisdom in the words.
Here are a few of the phrases:
“Be yourself, especially do not feign affection”.
“You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. You have a right to be here and whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should”.
“With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world”.
We continue to be greatly challenged at this time of great change (it seems to be going on and on!). It requires courage, strength, kindness and love for all (including ourselves), patience, resilience and a remembering, on a higher level, we have chosen to be here as a human during all this upheaval on the planet.
Live each day at a time with goodness in your heart and do and be your best self.
Each “tomorrow” may have a different and gentler energy allowing different doors to open and difficult situations be resolved more easily if you are having a hard time today.
There is so much joy in observing the delights in nature and the small gestures by our fellow man. Each night look back on your day and be thankful for even one lovely happening.
Keep peace with your soul.
With much love,
Merriene
