Service to Community

by | February 2025 | Community, Personal Growth, Spirituality

Welcome,

I trust you are going well?

Many years ago, the USA president at the time, John F. Kennedy said:

“Ask, not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country?”

Adapting that quote a bit we can ask ” not what our community can do for us but what we can do for our community?

As we come into our wisdom and higher state of consciousness, we can let go of our ego self and become more aware of being of service. We no longer feel the need to be important. There are many people who work quietly and selflessly for the good of others. These are the unsung heroes. Fairness, respect and compassion for all contributes to a more harmonious environment for everyone to lead a more positive and fulfilling life in these challenging times.

The service you provide doesn’t need to be “huge”.

My little bit of recent service has been:

  • alerting the rubbish collector that the emptying of bins in our street was “forgotten” and informing my neighbours to the change of day for collection when I discovered this was the reason.
  • alerting our town council that the sand needed to be pushed up to the bottom step (of 57 steps) at our most popular beach (used by many hundreds of people every day in summer) as there was a big gap, making it dangerous for the elderly and mothers with young children to navigate a safe arrival on to the beach. The sand was pushed up within two days of my informing the council, creating an easy alignment between step and sand.
  • filling my birdbaths and saucers with fresh water daily during our hot summer.

It is having awareness of the needs of others (and I must say myself!) including plants, insects and birds etc and then acting on the problem and not thinking someone else will do it!

Opening your heart and being kind to all will give you satisfaction (and help things run more smoothly). See what way you can be of service.

With love and blessings for a month of contributing to others and being kind to yourself.
